A workshop organised by the Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) entitled “Enhancing the Efficiency of Ports and Container Terminals”, will be conducted from the 6th to the 9th of November. The event will be held in cooperation with the Port Training Institute of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.
Three-day workshop at MFZ focuses on strategic planning and port development. Reviewed the most important modern trends in the process of managing and operating ports, digital transformation and how to deal with big data and smart systems for port work.
In this workshop, we aim to provide an opportunity for Logistics and Ports personnel to develop their skills in the latest techniques and methods used in the industry, as well as keeping abreast of the modern developments that are taking place. The workshop will include a number of interactive sessions, group work and case studies.
Day 1: Overview of Strategic Planning and Port Development
The first day of the workshop will overview the strategic planning and port development. The importance of having a clear strategy was emphasized, as well as the need to take into account different factors such as market demand, competition, and technology when developing said strategy.
It will also be noted that developing a good strategy is not enough – it is also important to have a clear plan on how to implement it and achieve desired results. In this regard, participants will be introduced to different project management tools and techniques that can be used in order to ensure successful implementation of the strategy.
Day 2: Modern Trends in Managing and Operating Ports
The second day will start with a review of some of the most important modern trends in managing and operating ports. Among other things, participants will be introduced to new technologies such as drones and artificial intelligence, which are increasingly being used in port operations. They will also given an overview of some best practices in port management from around the world.
Day 3: Digital Transformation and Smart Systems for Port Work
On the final day of the workshop, participants will learn about digital transformation and how it is changing port operations. They will also given an introduction to big data and smart systems, which are playing an increasingly important role in ensuring efficient port operations.
Overall, the workshop will offer valuable insight into ways in which Libyan ports can further improve their efficiency, thus ensuring the sector’s continued development.
